Brian Christopher
Brian Christopher, the main character of BLACK ANGEL, is the real son and only child of the author. He was tragically killed at the age of 17 by a senseless act of gun violence. Norma Jean often wondered what Brian was doing in his afterlife and took pen to paper to write out various scenarios, which led to her debut novel, BLACK ANGEL. Born from personal experience and fantasy, BLACK ANGEL is a book for all ages but focuses on young people who face similar life situations of tragedy, grief, and dangers faced every day. Realizing there is a need for books that reflect Black and Brown characters, Norma’s hope is that all readers will see themselves in the story and will laugh, cry and take inward reflection of their own lives and choose good over evil.
Norma is an avid reader and is a big fan of authors Nora Roberts, Dan Brown, David Baldacci, Tomi Adeymei, Octavia Butler and James Baldwin to name a few. Her favorite genres are fantasy and mystery but will curl up with a good romance as well. Norma has published two non-fiction books, under Norma DeShields, that helped her and countless others heal after the death of her son, Brian, entitled, JOY COMES THIS MORNING, and JOY FOR A NEW DAY
